Voluntary Stewardship Program
Offering agricultural landowners farm-friendly options for protecting natural resources in places where agricultural activity is conducted.
Instead of leading with regulations and enforcement, enrolling, by enrolling in VSP we focus on voluntary engagement with agricultural landowners to protect critical areas.
What are critical areas?

Frequently Flooded Areas

Aquifer Recharge Areas

Geologically Hazardous Areas

Wetlands

Fish & Wildlife Habitats
Cost Share is available for qualifying landowners.
To encourage conservation practices and agricultural improvements that lead to more efficient resource conservation we offer cost-share funds. Cost share means what it sounds like: sharing the cost of a project that makes our entire community better! To receive cost-share funds a landowner must get approval from the conservation district before the project happens. The funds for the cost-share program comes from both public and private sources depending on the nature of the project.
